Excerpt from Wiki about what Ambush means
An ambush is a long-established military tactic, in which the aggressors (the ambushing force) take advantage of concealment and the element of surprise to attack an unsuspecting enemy from concealed positions, such as among dense underbrush or behind hilltops. Ambushes have been used consistently throughout history, from ancient to modern warfare.
Ambush Dust 514 No surprise involved, everyone joining this game mode knows exactly what they are getting into. Perfectly balanced sides of either 50 or 80 clones to deplete to win. Very little concealment and no way to say hey guys I am on your side and then blast them with your weapon of choice. This is currently not an Ambush mode but instead what is commonly referred to a Team Death Match
Excerpt from wiki about Deathmatch Deathmatch or Player vs All (PvA, also called DM or free-for-all) is a widely used gameplay mode integrated into many shooter and real-time strategy (RTS) video games. Normally the goal of a deathmatch game is to kill (or "frag", from the military term) as many other players as possible until a certain condition or limit is reached, commonly being a frag limit or time limit. Once one of these conditions is met, the match is over and the winner is the player that accumulated the greatest number of frags. It is an evolution of the competitive multiplayer modes found in genres such as fighting games and racing video games.
Excerpt from wiki about Teams A team comprises a group of people or animals linked in a common purpose. Teams are especially appropriate for conducting tasks that are high in complexity and have many interdependent subtasks. A group in itself does not necessarily constitute a team. Teams normally have members with complementary skills and generate synergy through a coordinated effort which allows each member to maximize his/her strengths and minimize his/her weaknesses. Team members need to learn how to help one another, help other team members realize their true potential, and create an environment that allows everyone to go beyond their limitations.[1] A team becomes more than just a collection of people when a strong sense of mutual commitment creates synergy, thus generating performance greater than the sum of the performance of its individual members.
So what we have is a random grouping of unknown quality before the match starts against an equally unknown quality team that often is very one sided and even more often not even wanting to be paired together, not that they don't want to shoot people together but rather that they have no choice who they are paired with to play the match. This is a big FAIL on the design end of things and should not be allowed to continue in the manner it has gone on for as long as it has.
So here is the solution. Build the team before the battle then allow the Team Leader (Commander or whatever) to deploy them as the team, rather than Squad leads taking a "team" into a match where they are the only team and everyone else is random blue or red berries. |
